A recipe for all-American apple pie will soon be offered for Syosset’s home chiefs, and everyone, experienced or not, is encouraged to join the fun.
Syosset Public Library provides a variety of learning opportunities for the local community, and it has an activity on deck that will teach how to prepare a crustless apple pie. Advanced sign-up is required, costing $5, and everyone who adds their name to the list will need to have a library card.
The “make and bake” will be led by Chef Rob, who will have a dish of ginger scallion dip served alongside roasted shrimp to sample while the students work on their pie. Everyone will need to bring three large apples, a seven-inch pan, two medium bowls, a small cutting board, and a small knife. Registration opens on May 7 for Social Security Disability (SSD) residents, and any spots not filled will become open to the general public one week later.
A cookery class provides a chance to pick up some new kitchen skills in an enjoyable environment. Printed recipe cards and other materials for a culinary-focused activity can be ordered from area Stationery printers.
Syosset home bakers who would like to add a new dish to their repertoire can attend this class on Friday, May 29. It will begin at 12:00 pm in the library’s Meeting Room.
