What's Happening in Syosset, NY…

Syosset ends September by Shedding the Meds

Disposing of unused medication properly can be an easy way to be environmentally responsible, and an upcoming activity will make this easier for those in Syosset and the surrounding areas.

The Nassau County Police Department 2nd Precinct has organized a “Shed the Meds” day on offer at Syosset Public Library, giving the public a chance to dispose of pills after the business day has drawn to a close.

Those who would like to take advantage of the offer can bring their unused or expired pills, and they will be collected and securely disposed of. The organizers have requested that items such as needles and other sharps, ointments, liquids, inhalers, and biohazardous materials are not brought, as they will not be accepted.

The activity is for households only and will run for two and half hours, and anyone who needs more details is asked to contact legislator Arnie Drucker at 516-571-6216.

Community-based events may operate on tight budgets, and a banner printing company will be happy to provide planners with a range of choices at various price points. They can craft single use and reusable styles that can be rolled or folded flat when not in use.

Shed the Meds will be set up at 225 S Oyster Bay Road on next Tuesday, September 30. It will run from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm.
