Syosset Santas invited to roll call

For Santa Claus impersonators, it is a busy time of year. In recognition of those who volunteer their time as Santa in Syosset and across Long Island, a Santa Roll Call competition will be held next week at the Garden City Hotel.

The event will give Santas from around the area a chance to strut their stuff. During the competition portion of the event, judges will evaluate participating Santa Clauses on their laugh, overall jolliness, looks, and whether or not they can swiftly pick up a sack full of toys and gifts.

J. Colin Grady, the general manager of the Garden City Hotel and one of the judges during the contest, told the Syosset-Jericho Tribune:

"This is the start of a wonderful holiday tradition that honors the selfless volunteer work of so many people who donate their time to ensure that children are delighted by the sights, sounds, warmth and generosity embodied by Santa."

Organizers of the roll call might consider using a local print company to produce flyers, or business cards to hand out to area Santas and to spread the word about the new event.

Getting underway December 22 at 12:00 pm, prizes for the winning Santas will include a $100 gift certificate to Polo Steakhouse, located in the hotel, and a gentleman's facial at the Red Door Spa. Runner ups will also be given Polo Steakhouse gift certificates.
