Syosset class to share secrets for growing tomatoes

To many gardeners and foodies, there is nothing quite like biting into a freshly picked tomato still warm from the sun, and those who register for a Syosset workshop may be able to enjoy this experience for themselves.

Jessica Damiano, who is garden columnist for Newsday and who has also created and hosted The Great Long Island Tomato Challenge, will be sharing her top tips during the Tomatomania class that will be held at the Syosset Public Library. A library card is required to reserve a seat, and signups will be accepted until March 20th.

The participants in the session will discover how they can grow tomatoes in a garden or container, and it may be especially helpful to those who have not been gifted with a green thumb. Planting, pruning, sucker removal, and fertilization will all be discussed, and tips for troubleshooting any problems are also on the agenda. The attendees may even decide to go away and try their luck at growing tomatoes that are competition worthy, and this workshop will teach them how to get started.

An activity like this that introduces a hobby to the public may benefit from the services supplied by print shops. They can craft materials to hand out to the participants so that they can continue to learn after it has drawn to a close.

Tomatomania will be taking over Syosset Public Library on March 20th at 7pm.
