Syosset area walk to offer trips for wilderness survival

Thanks to an upcoming Syosset area event, those who call Long Island home will know what to do should they ever find themselves in an emergency survival situation in the wild.

The North Shore Land Alliance has organized an outing that will teach some of the fundamentals of surviving using materials and food that can be found in nature. The function will be taking place in Caumsett State Park, and may be of special interest to adults who enjoy camping and other outdoor activities.

The participants in the walk will learn how to build a fire, prepare a shelter, and find food in the wilderness, and while attendance is free of charge, advance registration is mandatory. Everyone will be able to get some hands-on practice with the new skills they have learned. Attendees will be sitting on the grass for a portion of the outing.

Outdoor enthusiasts often appreciate learning new ways to enjoy their surroundings. Flyer printing offers a way of promoting workshops and other activities that may be both effective and economical.

This visit to Caumsett State Park will be taking place on Sunday, March 27. Everyone is asked to be on site by no later than 11:00 am. The contact person for the function is Jane Jackson, who may be reached at 516-922-1028.
