Syosset area asked to support food drive
The Stop & Shop in East Northport will be one of the locations for a Long Island wide food drive, and the planners are asking Syosset households to make a generous donation.
The crew at Power to Feed Long Island have organized its summer collection drive, and there are different ways for the public to get involved. The food and other items donated will be used to restock the shelves at Island Harvest Food Bank, which serves the local area. Food for people and pets, as well as toiletries and other self-care products, are all needed.
The initiative will see both collection bins and a drive through drop-off service on offer, and it has been requested that the foodstuffs should be in non-breakable containers. Healthy foods such as beans, pasta sauce, tuna, and chicken are in demand, as are hand sanitizer, diapers, and pet food.
While the main goal of a food drive may be to collect as much as possible, it can also serve as a community-building activity. A poster printing company may prove to be a helpful partner when marketing an initiative to the public.
The Stop & Shop location at 3126 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport will be welcoming the Power to Feed Long Island food drive on September 2. Donations may be dropped off between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
