Preparation is key with Syosset Chamber event
When it comes to community safety, the Syosset Chamber of Commerce believes everyone has a role to play, and has announced a free workshop to help the public prepare for emergencies.
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library is preparing to welcome a seminar as part of the NY Citizen Preparedness Training Program. It will be an in-person activity where everyone is encouraged to take part. Advanced registration is mandatory to secure a seat.
The session will explore disasters caused by extreme weather and other situations, and the knowledge shared can be applied to almost any emergency. The attendees will learn some of the tools and other materials to have on hand should it be necessary, as well as how to develop a family plan. The goal is for households to pick up skills they can use to help both themselves and their neighbors and their whole community return to normal.
To help those who attend the workshop get started, each family will receive one emergency preparedness kit stocked with supplies. Print shops can craft a variety of promotional products for an activity, inducing crank-powered flashlights and other gear.
