What's Happening in Syosset, NY…

Native plants to be on offer during Syosset area sale

There are many benefits to using native plants in the home landscape design, and a Syosset area sale will assist locals in finding some perfect additions to their own plantings.

The annual Native Plant Sale, which is hosted by the Friends of Garvies Point Museum and Preserve, will include a wide selection of species, including shrubs, perennials and even groundcovers. The proceeds will be split between the museum and the North Shore Audubon Society, and this will be the fourth year for the activity.

Native plants will be well adapted to local climatic conditions, and they will also grow well in soils with the area’s pH, and be resistant to insect pests and diseases as well. Staff will be on hand to assist in choosing which species will be best for a particular location, and the shoppers will also be able to learn how they can locate their new garden additions so that they attract lots of birds, butterflies and other pollinators.

When organizing this sort of event, the planners may wish to order reusable shopping bags printed with the group’s logo design. These sorts of inexpensive promotional products will make it easier for shoppers to take home their purchases, and they will also promote the not-for-profit each time they are used.

The date for the 2021 Garvies Point Museum and Preserve Native Plant Sale will be May 1, and it will be hosted on site. Anyone who is considering pre-ordering some plants or who wants to find out more can do so on the facility's website.
