Karate Kid visits high school in Syosset

Earlier this month, actor and filmmaker Ralph Macchio paid a visit to Long Island High School for the Arts, in Syosset, to talk about his efforts in showbiz.

Macchio, a native of Long Island, rose to fame in the 1980s when he played Danny, the ‘Karate Kid’, in the movie of the same name. He was also in popular movies such as the Outsiders and My Cousin Vinny. More recently, he played himself in an episode of the sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and participated in ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

His visit to Long Island High School for the Arts wasn't just to inspire today's teens; he was also promoting his new film, ‘Across Grace Alley’, which was screened during the high school's film festival. He also led a master class for students at the school.

Macchio was the director and writer of Across Grace Alley. The movie focuses on a boy who is trying to come to terms with the divorce of his parents and who, in the process of doing so, develops a crush on a neighbor, who he sees through the window.

Aside from encouraging actors to make public appearances, upcoming films and television shows are often promoted with the help of print companies, with projects like poster and postcard printing often paying dividends.
