Birding walk to visit Syosset area
Old Westbury Gardens offers opportunities for peaceful enjoyment, and an outing will visit the site this fall on the hunt for some of the site’s fine feathered friends.
Syosset birders, whether they are newbies or have been enjoying the hobby for many years, are welcome to be part of an excursion that will tour the gardens. Everyone is reminded to bring their binoculars, and all ages are encouraged to discover how much fun bridging can be. The species seen may include ones that spend the winters in the area, as well as stragglers from the fall migration.
An avian expert from the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center will serve as the guide for the walk, pointing out species and offering ID tips as they go. It was noted that face covers are mandatory, and the function may need to be cancelled in case of inclement weather. Participation in the activity is included in the admission fee to the site.
An event like this may spark an interest in bird watching and other forms of environmental stewardship. Offering each attendee a custom-designed notebook paired with promotional pens will make it easier for them to record the species they see.
Old Westbury Gardens is set to welcome bird lovers for this outdoor excursion on October 30. The group will set out at 9:00 am.
