Red Hooks Elmendorph Inn offers open house

Red Hook’s oldest public building will be providing a glimpse into the area's past when it welcomes the public for an open house style activity.

Elmendorph Inn will be joining other community venues in celebrating Hardscrabble Day, and its Open House will include some special guests and other activities. Funding for the project has been provided, in part, by a grant from Dutchess County, and it is being held as part of the venue's Rev250 program.

The day will be filled with demonstrations of everything from hearth cooking in a historic beehive oven to how the preservation team restored the property. The Elmendorph Handspinners and Weavers Guild has been invited to participate by offering a weaving and spinning demonstration, and there will be other fun as well. Admission will be free, and the whole family is on the guest list. It will be open for six hours.

When preparing for a function with a historic theme, planners often turn to a banner printing company for assistance. They can provide everything from period style decor to Promotional Products to sell as fundraising items.

This step back in time to the early days of the town of Red Hook will be on offer on September 20th. The doors will open at 10:00 am , and visitors can drop by any time between then and 4:00 pm.
