This summer Red Hook residents will have a new option when it comes to farm-fresh produce, and while they shop, they will be supporting local adults to gain valuable vocational experience.
In Flight, Inc. will be manning a pop-up farm stand stacked with seasonal produce. There will be other items on offer as well, and each session will see the venue open for two hours.
Along with fruits and vegetables, there will be flowers, eggs, herbs and herbal products, ceramics, crafts, and other items. The crew manning the stand will be community members with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and it will provide them with work experience and a chance to interact with the public, polishing their social skills. The initiative is being run thanks to a partnership with Lonely Worm Farm, and each installment will run for two hours.
Seasonal events like this are often heavily marketed to the public to help increase awareness and ensure they are a success. A flyer printing company will be able to present a range of choices at various price points, with one for almost every budget.
Residents of Red Hook and the surrounding areas are invited to drop by the In Flight Farm Stand pop-up on Fridays throughout the summer. It will be located at 7516 North Broadway in Red Hook.
