Red Hook runs pottery wheel workshop series
The use of a pottery wheel allows potters to craft a variety of projects, and anyone who would like to get their feet wet with this creative hobby may want to register for a local class series.
Red Hook Community Center will serve as the venue for the Intro to Wheel Throwing series. The registrants must attend each session of the four-week series, and it will be held on select Thursdays during the summer season.
Students in the workshops will start with the basics, including the fundamentals of working with clay. They will get hands-on practice with different pottery wheel methods, and trimming and finishing will also be on the agenda. Hand-building techniques and glazing will wrap up the learning.
While it is free to register, donations to the Red Hook Community Center will be appreciated. There is room for four registrants.
Workshops and other leisure activities can be a fun way to learn a new hobby or skill. Stationery printers can prepare copies of any handouts needed as well as safety waivers, registration forms, letterheads and other documents.
The Introduction to Wheel Throwing class series will open on Thursday, July 10, with further dates on the three following Thursdays – July 17, 24, 31. A wait list is available if all the spots have been filled, and its registration system can be found on the Center’s website.
