D’Addario & Company recently announced that it will be moving its carbon steel wire mill from Massachusetts to Farmingdale, which is just a short distance from Massapequa Park and the location of the company’s headquarters.
Most likely, the company is turning to a variety of printing services to announce this relocation as it is estimated that 30 new jobs will be created on Long Island by the end of this year as a result of the move.
The company manufactures accessories for musical instruments. On Thursday, May 1, the CEO of the company, Jim D’Addario, hosted a press conference and gave a tour of the company’s headquarters to local and government officials, and thanked the State of New York, Suffolk County, and the Town of Babylon for their assistance in making the relocation possible.
He added that $3m of the funds of the business were used to re-engineer the wire drawing and coating process in the new location so that the company was able to create premium-priced guitar strings. There will be 120 countries to which the new product will be delivered, and a new marketing campaign will be developed for the launch of the product.
According to a news release, this product will be the most significant of the company in the 100 years it has been in New York, with all production and related entities located in the state.
