An organization will be holding a walking event in Massapequa Park to raise awareness.
The 7th Annual Long Island United Walk For Recovery & Hope is a gathering where people can support those impacted by addiction. During the event, guests can access resource tables and hear from recovery speakers. Children can take part in activities at the united walk, and all attendees will be entered into a free raffle. Entertainment for the walk will be provided by DJ Get Your Groove On. Refreshments will also be served during the recovery event.
The activity is organized by Drug Free Long Island, an organization that has been supporting the community for more than 11 years. The group partners with several community associations, including the Lions Club, Massapequa Chamber, and Thomas' Hope. The mission of Drug Free Long Island is to use public awareness, empowerment, and education to create drugless environments for the community. Past events from the group include the LICADD's Virtual Angel Ball and the 11th Annual Stand Up For Recovery Day.
The walk for recovery is on Sunday, September 18 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. The event will be held at Marjorie Post Park. Registration is required to attend Drug Free Long Island's activity. Those with informative booths at events like this may use brochure printing to offer additional resources to guests.
