Massapequa Park residents can participate in a virtual walk this October to raise funds and awareness for the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA).
The 2020 APDA Long Island Virtual Optimism Walk is a fundraising event where people can help those impacted by Parkinson’s. There are several rewards that participants can receive for raising money, including a T-shirt for those who earn $100 and above and a hat for people who raise $500 or more. Anyone who reaches $1,000 will become a Circle of Optimism Member and will receive a special medal and website recognition.
The APDA is the largest grassroots network that serves people with Parkinson’s disease and their families. The money earned during the Optimism Walk will be used to fund support groups and service programs for patients who have Parkinson's. This year, the event hopes to make $75,000 from the fundraiser. Organizations such as this that have charity fundraisers can distribute Promotional Products to the community to raise awareness for their cause.
The virtual walk will be held on Saturday, October 17. The opening ceremony for the digital activity will start at 11:00 am. Those who are interested in registering can join on the event’s website. People who register for the walk are encouraged to make a Facebook Fundraiser page and connect it to their Optimism Walk fundraising page.
