Massapequa Park to help people with illness

The American Parkinson's Disease Association (APDA) will be holding a special fundraising event in Massapequa Park.

The Long Island Optimism Walk is a recurring event where people can raise funds for those impacted by Parkinson's disease. Participants are encouraged to earn as much money as they can for the cause before the walk to help the APDA reach its goal of $75,000. The in-person part of the event will be held at Marjorie R. Post Community Park. The program includes a non-competitive walk, music, and activities for families to enjoy together.

The APDA is a large organization that uses its resources and donations to fight against Parkinson's disease. The association was founded during the early 1960s and has since invested more than $226m toward educational programs, patient services, and research. People who want to support the APDA can help fundraise for its upcoming walk. The walk will be on Saturday, September 30 at 9:00 am. The group walk will begin at 10:00 am. No dogs are allowed to join participants in the event.
