Beyond The Badge NY will be holding an event in Massapequa Park in October to raise awareness for the police force’s mental health.
The Stomp Out The Stigma 5K is a community event where people can support local police officers and interact with the community in a family-friendly environment. Activities at the fest include a fun run for children, an afterparty BBQ, and raffles. Kids can also touch a truck at the event, and business vendors will be attending the community gathering.
Beyond The Badge NY is a group with the mission of reducing law enforcement suicide rates by breaking the stigma against receiving treatment for mental health issues. The organization provides resources for officers and holds seminars about the importance of mental health in their professional. Many social events and activities are held by the group, such as Friends & Family Day and the Strikeout Suicide Softball Tournament.
The 5K will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 9:00 am. The children’s run will begin at 8:30 am. Tickets to partake in the event are $30 per person. The proceeds of the program will be used to fund initiatives to boost officer morale, hold grief groups, and organize seminars. Non-profits that have 5Ks and other events like this may use banner printing to promote their causes outdoors.
