Massapequa Park event to fight Parkinsons disease

The community is invited to attend a fundraiser held at Marjorie R. Post Community Park in Massapequa Park in October.

The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Long Island 2021 Optimism Walk is a non-competitive activity where families can show their support for those impacted by the disease. The event will feature child-friendly activities and a demonstration from Rock Steady Boxing. Many participating sponsors will hold giveaways during the fundraiser and will have tables for guests to visit. The course is about one mile long though participants are not required to walk the full distance.

The fundraising goal for the event is $75,000. Currently, teams have raised more than $13,000 to help the APDA fight Parkinson’s disease. Those who help raise money for the association can earn rewards such as commemorative T-Shirts. Funds from the walk will go towards assisting researchers and providing programs for people with Parkinson’s and their families. Charitable activities similar to this may advertise their fundraisers with flyer printing.

The walk will occur on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:00 am. Check-in for the program will begin at 9:00 am. People interested in registering for the charitable activity can find a printable form on the event’s site. Participants who earn $100 for the cause will receive a celebratory T-shirt for their efforts. Only service animals are allowed at the park.
