The third annual Wrap It Up! Holiday benefit and art sale will be held by the Long Island Academy of Fine Art in Glen Cove, a short distance from Massapequa Park.
The exhibit will be held in in the Hersh Fine Art gallery and is a juried exhibition. There will be work from local artists, as well as that of advanced students and instructors from the Academy. Proceeds of sales from any of the artwork will go to the Glen Cove Art Council.
The Art Council was founded in 2004 by Glen Cove poet laureate Victoria Crosby to enable children to participate in cultural activities like visits to museums, opera, ballet, and theater. It also offers scholarships in the arts to young people who have talent in this area but do not have the financial ability to pursue such academics.
According to Rebecca Forster, Co-Director of the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, its relationship with the Glen Cove Arts Council has been important, as the Council has helped many children and adults who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to see professional dance performances or go to art camp.
There will be an opening reception, for which there is no fee, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm this Saturday, December 5. The exhibiting artists might be working with a local Print company to print a flyer or mailer to promote the exhibit and the free reception.
