Fairs fair in Long Island festivities

The Long Island Fair, organized and presented by The Agricultural Society of Queens, Nassau & Suffolk Counties, will take place at Old Bethpage Village and Fairgrounds at the end of the month.

There will be plenty of activities for everyone in the family, including bluegrass music, a magician, a puppet show, classes, music from Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders, old-time games, a quilt exhibition, and children's races. There will also be agricultural exhibits and contests, hobby competitions, apples and cider for purchase, a raffle for a quilt, and contests such as guessing the number of beans in a jar and guessing the weight of a pumpkin. Quilt raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Those visiting the fair will also be able to tour the historical building in Old Bethpage Village.

A premium book, which lists all the competitions and classes, is available for download on the website or those interested can request that a hard copy be mailed to them. No doubt local printing companies from the area, perhaps including Massapequa Park at under an hour's drive away, will have helped to design and Print the premium book, which will help those planning to attend the Long Island Fair get the most out of it.

The Long Island Fair will take place from September 27 - 30 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm each day. Admission prices vary depending on age ranging and the date of visit so, for more information, potential attendees may want to visit the event’s website or call 516-874-0502.
