Beginning this week, the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Parks, Recreation Division, will be hosting Classic Car Cruise Night.
Located at in the parking lot at the Massapequa Long Island Rail Road station, and drawing in people from Massapequa Park, this annual event is a chance for owners of vintage cars to show off their well-maintained prize possessions and explain how they have been able to keep them in such perfect condition over the years. In addition, younger folks will be able to get a detailed look at a part of American culture and car history.
According to a Massapequa Observer article, attendees of last year’s show gave favorable reviews, particularly because it allowed attendees to chat with owners about their cars.
Owners of vehicles to be displayed need to drive their cars to the show themselves and register at 6:15 pm. Their cost is two cans of food, which the town donates to the local food bank, Island Harvest. There is no charge for onlookers.
The first Classic Car Cruise Night is this Friday, July 10, which will be a kickoff evening. The remaining nights will be July 24, August 7, and August 21. The town may look to poster printing companies to create a colorful and attractive poster that can be displayed at the railroad station.
