What's Happening in Massapequa Park, NY…

The members of the Massapequa High School Varsity Cheerleaders were recently commended by Edward P. Mangano, the Nassau County Executive, for taking first place at the National Cheerleaders Association High School Open National Championship.

The team had traveled to Louisville, Kentucky for the competition, and will no doubt now be considering turning to poster printing and other professional printing services to make the Massapequa Park community aware of this achievement.

Barbara Williams, the principal of Massapequa High School, was presented a citation by Mangano. Furthermore, Coach Lisa Battistoni, who supervised the team, received an engraved trophy to mark the successful campaign.

Mangano commented that the coach and the members of the team had practiced for thousands of hours over the years and their dedication, hard work, and perseverance have finally paid off in attaining this national honor. The County, school, community, and families are all proud of the team’s achievement.

The Championship is an annual event held by the National Cheerleaders Association and supports the activity around the world. It has three divisions for performance—novice, intermediate and advanced—and game time divisions in which teams can spotlight their Time Out Dance, Time Out Cheer, and Fight Song.

Although all participating teams receive a placement trophy, the national champions receive an NCA megaphone trophy, national championship banner, and jackets for each team member.
