Chick-fil-A is opening new locations on Long Island, a move which is bringing employment opportunities to locals.
The first Chick-fil-A on Long Island opened in Port Jefferson Station last October, and now the chain is gearing up for operations in Commack and Hicksville. The company says it will be hiring about 280 people for the two new stores, with 140-145 in each. The locations comprise about 5,000 square feet.
The Commack store is on south of Henry Street on Commack Road in Commack, and the Hicksville location is in the Broadway Mall. The two are part of the restaurant chain's continuing expansion into the Empire State.
The Hicksville Chick-fil-A will be owned by Erin Elko, a native of South Carolina who has worked for the company for nine years. In a statement, Elko said she had dreamed of owning one of the stores, and had also wanted to move to New York. Running the Hicksville location fulfills both dreams.
When the town board approved Chick-fil-A's request, it stipulated the restaurant could not stay open past 11:00 pm, that it could not put in an entrance on Broadway, and that it had to add additional landscaping.
Companies like these may be able to increase business by working with flyer printing companies. Printers can create handouts giving details about openings, and if coupons are included, even more people might choose to try new restaurants.
