Golf outing raises over a quarter-million
The annual golf outing for South Nassau Communities Hospital was recently held at The Seawane Club in Hewlett Harbor and Inwood Country Club in Inwood. It raised close to $282,000, the most money in its history of 30 years, in support of the Emergency Department Expansion Campaign of the hospital.
The emergency services department at South Nassau is the busiest of its kind in the county. It is responsive to the needs of its patients and offers board-certified, residency-trained emergency medicine physicians, as well as physicians’ assistants and nurses who are trained in emergency medical care.
The goal of the campaign is to raise $10m over five years so as to provide state-of-the-art emergency care to the residents of Nassau County’s south shore. The physical size of the department will increase from 16,000 to 30,000 square feet so as to grow its capacity by 87% and to make it able to accommodate 70,000 patients per year. There will also be dedicated areas for pediatric and behavioral health emergencies.
There were various prizes for the golfers who participated in the event. The afternoon of golf was followed by a lavish buffet dinner, fun, and camaraderie and raffle prizes.
The Emergency Services Department may have worked with local stationery printers to create flyers, which enabled the event to be such a successful fundraiser.
