Wall Township to receive Clean Communities grant

Wall Township recently received a large sum of money through a state program of grants intended to help protect the environment and beautify the community.

A total of $23.7 million in funding was awarded through the Clean Communities program administered by the state, and Wall Township will be the recipient of $79,000 of these monies. According to the Bob Martin, who is the Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner, each county in New Jersey will be getting a grant, which is intended for use in projects to beautify its communities and environment.

The money that will be distributed come from a fee that is applied to companies that manufacture products that tend to generate a lot of littler. The amount each area receives is based on how many people live there and how many miles of roads it contains.

The initiatives that could benefit from this monetary input range from something as simple as a litter clean up to recycling programs, cleaning debris from storm water systems, removing little from beaches, organizing publicly led community beautification efforts, implementing and enforcing ordinances an by-laws that deal with litter and trash, purchasing supplies for the removal of graffiti, public information programs, and more. A printing company can be called upon to produce a variety of public awareness material that can be used for this purpose.

It is hoped that these measures will help to foster a sense of pride in their community in the people who live there and keep the state looking beautiful and a place people want to visit.
