Wall Township gives Easter a Ukrainian theme

Crafting brightly colored eggs in honor of the Easter season is a tradition in many countries, and a workshop near Wall Township will introduce the techniques used in Ukraine.

The art of making pysanky, sometimes referred to as “Ukrainian Easter eggs,” has been practiced in the Eastern European nation for a long time. Attendees will be taught its history and cultural significance, and will also craft one for themselves.

Each ticketholder will receive all the materials they need for their project, and there will be a variety of eggs for them to choose from. It was explained that while the session is open to all skill levels, it is intended for those aged 18 and up. Old clothing is highly recommended because the dyes used may drip or splash, and everyone is asked to bring along an old egg carton or other container for their finished piece.

A class or other workshop provides an opportunity to pass down cultural traditions to the next generation, while having fun at the same time. Flyers can be effective promotional tools for an activity like this, and these may be supplied by area printing services companies.

This introduction to the history and art of pysanky will be on offer on Sunday, March 26, starting at 10:00 am. The venue can be found at Calgo Gardens in Freehold.
