Wall Township class to teach basic metalworking

Wall Township residents who would like to learn a new hobby will be able to do so if they participate in a workshop that will introduce some basic metalsmithing techniques.

During the Metalsmithing 101 class, members of the public will be crafting a pair of customized earrings using the materials provided. Lydia Santoro, who is the owner of Magpie Jewellery and has been designing pieces for 20 years, will share her expertise. The ticket price is $48, not including sales taxes and other applicable fees.

The class will give the registrants some hands-on experience using an assortment of tools, and they will be able to choose from either gold or silver wire for the project. They will each have an opportunity to hammer, file and work with the wire, and matching beads will be provided. The function will be held at 462 Adelphia Road in Freehold, and to ensure the safety of all, the class size will be limited.

Small workshops give the public a chance to learn a new skill in a relaxed setting. A flyer printing company will be able to offer a method of promoting these activities that may be quite economical for a small business or organization.

Metalsmithing 101 will be welcoming registrants on March 5, beginning at 10:00 am. Its Eventbrite listing will have the most current information about the class.
