What's Happening in Wall Township, NJ…

Wall Township calls out to young coders

Many kids are very computer savvy, and during a Wall Township area initiative, they will have an opportunity to both learn and apply their knowledge.

STEM+ Academy is offering a Video Game Maker series of sessions, which will teach kids about the basic steps of designing and developing a video game, using the Kodu game-making platform.

Kodu is a programming language that uses visual prompts, and has been crafted to be easy for kids to use. It teaches them programming skills, which they can use to create 3D games of their very own. The goal is for the participants to learn and have fun doing so, all while meeting new friends who share their interest.

Those who already have a working knowledge of the programming language are also welcome. They will be able to build on the current game they are developing or start over from scratch. Flyers can be placed throughout the local area to market an event like this to anyone who may be interested in having their child take part.

The workshops will be held at 529 Bay Avenue in Pt. Pleasant Beach starting on September 9, and they will run until October. They are geared towards kids from grades 1 to 8, and more details about them, and other programs offer by STEM+ Academy, can be found on its website.
