In Wall Township, ‘Black Friday’ brought more than an opportunity to get a head start on holiday shopping.
Druing the November 27-29 weekend, the Wall Stadium Speedway hosted its annual Turkey Derby, drawing drives from all over the eastern seaboard. It was the final race of the season for the track, and the last auto racing event of the 2015 season for the area. Even though the weather was not ideal, the rain was not enough to keep the drivers and fans away from this 42nd running of this popular activity.
A practice session for those who were taking part was held on November 14. Well known drivers Nick Ladyga, Keith Rocco, and Max Zachem were among the participants who came out for that stage of the event.
There were several featured races that were held, ranging from Tour Type Modified to the Limited Late Model. The overall winners for these included Ryan Preece, Jimmy Blewett, Shanon Mongeau, Joe Mangeau, Robert Sutphin, Mike Alcaro, and Kyle Ellwood.
