A pet food enterprise called Blue Buffalo has marked the occasion by donating 2,500lb of products to the charity.
It also chose to give the family who adopted the millionth pet a supply of goods for one year. The Ferriers were the family in question and live in Asbury Park, now joined by a cat called Watermark. Leslie Ferrier has expressed his gratitude to Blue Buffalo.
Monmouth County SPCA has not stopped campaigning. It took part in an adoption drive that secured homes for more than 60 pets in a single weekend. If its managers want to take their efforts further, they could use printing services in Wall Township to get their message across.
David Petrie, a vice president in the Blue Buffalo organization, said:
“We couldn't be more proud of the work that the Monmouth County SPCA is doing in the region to provide a safe haven for homeless, abused, and abandoned pets. The Ferriers’ adoption of Watermark is a testament to the tremendous efforts being made at the shelter to prepare animals for adoption.”
The family has two other pets to provide some company for Watermark. One is a dog named Sweet Potato, while the other is a canine called Buckley; a beagle adopted through the Liberty Humane Society.
