What's Happening in Wall Township, NJ…

New laws allow New Jersey Colleges to form partnerships with private developers

Schools getting a charter is not a new concept. However, until recently it was illegal for New Jersey colleges to partner with private developers. Thankfully, this has now changed.

There are many advantages that both colleges and businesses can gain from creating a relationship. An example of a successful arrangement is a school that had a roof that was in need of repair. Instead of borrowing money to fix it, they got funding from a local company. In exchange the company was allowed to install solar panels on the roof. They then sold back the generated electricity to the college.

In the past colleges had to rely on grants, government assistance, loans and donations to fund projects. This is no longer the case. Now all colleges in New Jersey will be able to solicit agreements from businesses. This includes schools in small towns such as Wall Township.

In order to get a good level of interest, schools should market themselves to local businesses. One of the simplest ways of doing this is to use printing services to create brochures. The brochures can outline the history of the school and the benefits businesses can gain from aligning with it. While large, well-known schools are more attractive to businesses, smaller schools will also be able to secure funding. However, they will need a more aggressive marketing campaign. This campaign should focus contacting local businesses and advising them about the new laws.
