Motorists make novel sightings on highway
Drivers from Wall Township may have been noticing something unusual in recent weeks as they approach the Garden State Parkway’s Exit 11.
According to Ronnie Ehrenspeck with the Associated Humane Societies of New Jersey, two goats have taken up residence along that particular stretch of the roadway. She went on to say that they have been there for about two months, and the organization has been getting frequent calls about them.
Attempts have been made to corral the creatures, but so far, they’ve been to no avail. The concern is that they could run out onto the highway and get hurt or cause an accident.
A plan has been made to set up a custom-built pen with food inside with the hope that the goats will go in to eat the food and then not be able to get out. No one knows where they came from, as no local farms have reported any of their livestock missing. A company that provides mailing services could mail out notices to anyone in the area who might own livestock to let them know the goats have been spotted and asking if they might know who their owners are.
Motorists in the area are being asked to keep driving if they happen to see the animals. If they can be caught, it is hoped that they will be able to find a new home on a farm.
