Earlier this month, a few dozen attendees gathered in the former Lucent Technologies buildings, now vacant, to celebrate the newest tenant breaking ground.
By 2016, the lobby hopes to welcome a state-of-the-art cancer treatment facility as the newest campus for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The 285,000 square foot facility will sit on a parcel of land close to Garden State Parkway’s Exit 114. The outpatient facility will be similar to the Westchester, Long Island, and Basking Ridge facilities operated by Memorial Sloan Kettering. It will serve many locals, including those in Wall Township.

The Monmouth County facility will offer a variety of services, including medical and neuro oncology, chemotherapy, diagnostic radiology, ambulatory surgery, social work, and support programs. The facility also includes planned space for cancer support group meetings, educational programs for healthcare workers, and a range of community events.
According to Richard Barakat, the Memorial Sloan Kettering deputy physician-in-chief for the Regional Care Network, the new facility will represent an investment of more than $200m, and will likely create more than 160 new jobs, in addition to the 100 workers who are expected to relocate to the facility from their existing workplace.
