An upcoming activity will offer a glimpse into the community’s role in the War, shedding light on the 1940s roles of Wall Township men and women.
A virtual workshop, which is being offered by Monmouth County Library, will explore how the area coped during World War II. It will include both those who went overseas and the ones who remained on the home front, and it is being presented by Mary Rasa using the Zoom platform.
During the activity. Rasa will discuss how blackouts, bond drives and rationing impacted individuals and families. The group will learn how there were shortages of many ingredients and other goods, which forced those on the home front, most of whom were women, to adapt their cooking and other homemaking efforts. The development of a radar system on the Jersey Shore will be reviewed, and the goal is for everyone to walk away with a greater understanding of their area’s history, and how its impact may still be felt today.
In response to the Covid pandemic, many libraries, museums, and other cultural institutions have changed the way they operate. Real world marketing materials for these activities may be ordered from a flyer printing company.
This exploration of how World War II impacted Wall Township will be held on Tuesday, December 7. Its scheduled start time is 10:30 am.
