What's Happening in Wall Township, NJ…

BioHitech America provides an urban composting solution

The city of New York produces a large volume of food waste, but some of its organizations could address the issue onsite with a new "mechanical stomach".

The capacity of enterprises to deal with the accumulation of compost has not been helped by a shortage of facilities. However, BioHitech America has the potential to assist businesses to cope with their own waste and catalog printing in Wall Township could be used to promote the services of the firm. Frank Celli, the chief executive officer of the outfit, has told Crain’s New York Business:

“There are technologies like mine that can solve the city’s commercial food-waste problem.”

Mr. Celli is in the business of selling and leasing products. The main item he sells is an aerobic digester. For just over $20,000 an entrepreneur can purchase a small aerobic digester that can work in a stomach-like manner to break down waste.

Vegetables and animal products can be treated in a similar way. Either type of waste can be converted into liquid. This water may be permitted to go down the drain for eventual processing at a sewage treatment plant.

As the waste is not stored for long onsite, nasty odors should not develop. A business that makes use of the technology should be able to limit its carbon footprint by minimizing its reliance on transportation.

The equipment sold by Mr. Celli can monitor waste production. Study of the information gathered may lead to less waste being created in the first place.
