The Secaucus Animal Shelter recently welcomed nine new residents to its facility.

The newest members of the shelter’s family are a basset hound terrier mix, and mother and her seven puppies that had been brought up from Louisiana. A team of volunteers drove the dogs north in relay fashion, with each of them taking on part of the journey.

The ‘no kill’ shelter has formed a partnership with rescue groups in other states that take in animals from facilities where they might have been euthanized if they were not able to find a home. Each of the animals it accepts is seen by a vet and is prepared, through being socialized to be around people as well as other measures such as being spayed or neutered, to be adopted into loving families. A postcard printing company can produce promotional items that can be mailed out to the community letting them know which pets are currently seeking a permanent place to live and encouraging the public to consider adopting one for themselves.

While the shelter is happy to receive each of the animals it cares for, their hope is that all of them are able to find a home to call their own where they will be loved and happy. A variety of different types of pets are available, including kittens, puppies, and full grown cats and dogs, as well as guinea pigs, rabbits, and others than might arrive at its door.
