Kingfish is taking his blues music from the heart of Mississippi to center stage in a Secaucus-area venue this October.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is hosting the back-to-back concerts in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium.
Born Christone Ingram, the guitar maestro and singer known as Kingfish is a Grammy-winning recording artist, having picked up the 2022 award for Best Contemporary Blues Album for his work 662. He has also been nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2020 for his self-titled album and another nod for Best Contemporary Blues Album for the 2024 effort Live In London.
Kingfish has been named as a torchbearer for classic Mississippi Delta-style blues, while also putting a new spin on the genre by incorporating elements of jazz, pop, funk, soul and hip-hop.
Hailing from Clarksdale, Mississippi, Kingfish shares both a geographical and musical origin with legendary artists associated with the region, including John Lee Hooker, Ike Turner, Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke, among others.
Buddy Guy served as the mentor for Kingfish, who picked up the guitar at age 8 and began booking gigs at local clubs at age 10.
