Dog owners in Secaucus recently had an opportunity to let their pet enjoy a swim while helping to support local animals in need.
The Secaucus Animal Shelter played host to a dog pool party. The event, which took place at the community’s kiddie pool, saw as many as 50 dogs get into the water, and with an entry fee of $10, the organization was able to collect several hundred dollars. A company that prints Banners will be able to produce ones for this type of event at a price that can fit into the budget.
The funds that were raised will be put towards the construction of the shelter’s isolation facility. When an animal is brought into the shelter, it spends some time in isolation to make sure that it doesn’t pose a risk of disease to the other occupants in the building. While they are there, they have their health checked, and once the go ahead is given, they can be placed in the main area with the other animals.
The construction of this new building is currently ongoing, and a temporary isolation facility has been set up in a trailer. This facility is small though, so the shelter can’t take in many new residents until a new one is built.
The shelter has planned several other fundraising events to take place throughout the autumn months.
