The first Healthy Town designation for 2025 has been bestowed on the borough of Red Bank by the Mayor's Wellness Campaign. This is a program of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.
Communities that go above and beyond to improve wellness and health through community leadership and innovative local programming are honored with this statewide recognition. Red Bank was recognized for an approach that was grounded in inclusion, sustainability, and prevention that invited residents to participate in activities that improve health and wellness and programming that supported vulnerable populations. In addition, the emphasis in Red Bank on partnering with local organizations in many areas to offer programming that is accessible at no cost and meets residents where they are and providing services in trusted community spaces were also highlighted.
News of such inaugural designations can be made known throughout a community with flyer printing.
Mayor William Portman said that the borough takes a holistic appraisal approach in recognizing that many factors make up wellness including exercise, the arts, nutrition, and healthcare which is reflected in the many wide-ranging efforts of the volunteers.
This year 45 municipalities earned a designation of a Healthy Town, with additional municipalities recognized as ones to watch and those that are up and coming.
