Still time to run in Manalapan

Manalapan runners are not to late to participate in the remaining runs of the 40th Annual Winter Race

Series. Although the first two – on January 8 and 15 – are behind us, there is still time to register for the other three. The entry fee for each 5k race will be $7 for adults, $4 for participants of 22 years and under, and $4 for Freehold Area Running Club (FARC) Members.

Awards will go to the top 5k overall female and male finishers, and three top female and male finishers in each of nine age categories. The top three walkers of each gender also get awards, as do the top three Clydesdales (men over 200lbs) and Athenas (women over 160lbs). Participants should note that no baby joggers, strollers, dogs, or headphones will be allowed.

On the day, those taking part can enjoy soup, indoor facilities, and refreshments.

The FARC is a 501(c) not-for-profit racing organization that has put on about 25 running events annually, including group runs and kids’ races, as well as presenting guest speakers and hosting social events such as picnics and baseball games. It also awards two to four college scholarships annually and has a membership of 400.

Families that join running clubs like this often have colorful T-Shirts printed featuring the family crest or Logo Design.

All races will begin at 10:00 am at Michael F. Tighe Park, Georgia Road, Freehold. The next one is this Sunday, January 22, with others following on January 29 and February 5.
