State to celebrate its history

The New Jersey History Fair is coming very soon to Manalapan, offering entertainment, activities, food, fun, and bonding with friends, family and neighbors.

The State History Fair is held every year to commemorate New Jersey’s history—it features both exhibitors (and historical figures walking around) and vendors along with activities and entertainment in a natural outdoor setting.

Attendees will have to make some tough choices though, as there will be more activities and exhibits than can be seen in a single day, with attractions such as the Automotive Exhibit, an antique bicycle demonstration, a marketplace, and a military encampment. Attendees can go back to the 19th Century with a photography demonstration from the era and an 1860s rules baseball game. A Frank Sinatra tribute band and music by the Seadogs will keep the ears entertained.

Teachers are invited to bring students, and scouting organizations are invited to use the event to help attain badges for members. The fair is being sponsored and partnered by a long list of local businesses and organizations. All attendees will want to bring their sharpest cameras to capture the action for later poster printing.

This year the Fair will be held rain or shine on Saturday, May 9, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, 16 Business Route 33, Manalapan. Admittance is free, though attendees are asked to donate $10 for parking.
