Running shoes at the ready in Manalapan and Englishtown

Project Zero, The Manalapan-Englishtown Community Alliance’s third Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk, is coming to Manalapan the end of the month.

Runners will want to mark their Calendars, while spectators will want to bring Banners to encourage their favorite entrants.

The event, although designed to be fun, will have all runners timed thanks to Gone Wild, one of the local running groups. Each of the four categories will have awards for the top three finishers. The four categories will be men, women, boys 14 and under, and girls 14 and under.

Up until April 19, admission fees were at a discounted price of $20 for adults, $50 for families, and $15 for those participants under 18. Prices have now gone up to $60 per family, $25 for single adults and $20 for youth. Teams are encouraged to register together and will get reduced rates.

The run will be on the 5K/3.1 mile loop behind the tennis court and basketball courts area. The start and finish lines will be at the foot of the loop.

Project Zero will be this Saturday, April 29, at the Manalapan Recreation Center, 93 Freehold Road on Route 522. Registration will start at 8:00 am no matter what the weather, and the 5K will get going at 9:30 am.
