Mushroom cultivation course spreads knowledge to Manalapan residents

A mushroom cultivation workshop is in the works near Manalapan for next month, providing area residents with a hands-on learning experience to equip themselves to grow mushrooms from home.

The Mushroom Cultivation Workshop 2025 will offer a range of growth and harvesting tips for different types of mushrooms. Students who attend will leave the session with new skills to grow food while discovering an in-depth understanding of mushrooms, the nutrients they provide, and their ideal growing conditions.

This year’s course will start by demonstrating to enrollees the process of transforming fresh hardwood logs into mushroom-bearing logs. The instructors will provide background information about both the history of mushrooms and the different health benefits each type provides when consumed. Brochure printing is an excellent way to convey more information about various kinds of mushrooms and their ideal growing conditions at such events.

Attendees will get a clearer idea of the supplies needed to begin growing mushrooms at home. The primary mushrooms the workshop will focus on are multiple strains of shiitake, oyster, and maitake. Students will leave the event with an inoculated log to start their growing at home.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, May 17, from 10:30 AM until 1:30 PM, at Two River Gourmet Mushrooms, LLC. General admission tickets cost $50 per student online.
