Monmouth County has eclectic events in March

Manalapan will have multiple social opportunities during March.

Right away on March 1st from 10:00 am until 11:30 am, outdoor enthusiasts can meet in the Huber Woods Park Environmental Center’s parking lot in order to take a Splendid Spring Stroll. The event will be free and hikers are advised to wear appropriate Outerwear and sturdy shoes. The park is located at 25 Brown’s Dock Road in Locust.

Longstreet Farm will have a couple of events in March. Saturday, March 6th from noon until 2:30, knitters and crocheters, whether pro or novice, are invited to attend a laid-back yarn bee. Staff will be on hand to answer any yarn-related questions. The event is geared to anyone over the age of 10. Cost will be $5. This event will be repeated on April 3rd, and May 1st.

On Saturday March 13th from noon until 2:00 pm, the farm will turn its attention to Backyard Chickens. This free discussion will be on poultry general anatomy, routine care and poultry needs such as shelter, water and feed. There will also be a segment on egg production. Accordion music of the 1890’s will be at the farm from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.

Big Brook Park will have its Splendid Spring Stroll on Monday, March 15th from 10:00 am until 11:30 am. Participants will meet the Park Naturalist in the parking lot.
