To celebrate all things from the Emerald Isle, the Irish group Danu will be presenting its St. Patrick’s Day Celebration concert soon.
The five male members of the group, who hail from County Waterford, Dublin, Donegal, and Cork in Ireland will perform ancient Irish music and contemporary Celtic tunes. They will be playing traditional Celtic instruments including the tin whistle, flute, and button accordion. They will also be plucking and strumming a bouzouki, which is a Greek lute with a long neck. Vocals will be sung in both English and Irish.
Many songs will be part of the groups eight CDs and one DVD. Their latest CDs are ‘Buan’ released in 2015, and ‘Seanchas’ which was released in 2010. The band has won awards from the Irish Music Magazine and the BBC.
This year the group has added a multiple-award-winning vocal artist Nell Mi Chroinin, who was the recipient of two major traditional singer awards in Ireland back in 2012 and 2014.
A pre-performance discussion with one of the members will be held prior to the concert.
Those interested will want to mark their Calendars for March 18. The event will be at the Hylton Performing Arts Center’s Merchant Hall, George Mason University, 10900 University Blvd. Manassas beginning at 8:00 pm.Get a Free Quote for Calendars
