Monmouth County Parks Naturalists will be conducting walks during the first half of February.
The first walk will be at Big Brook Park Saturday, February 1. The park’s Roving Naturalist will lead a leisurely hike on well-maintained trails, lasting 1.5 to 2 hours, while discussing seasonal oddities, naming a few birds, and assisting hikers in finding evidence of wildlife. The attendees at this free event are to gather in the main parking lot at 9:00 am.
Clayton Park in Upper Freehold will have a Wondrous Winter Walk on Wednesday, February 5. A Park System Naturalist will meet attendees in the parking lot on Emley’s Hill Road at 10:00 am. The 1.5-hour walk is open to all ages, minors must be accompanied by adults, and sturdy footwear is advised.
Bird lovers will enjoy a relaxing 1.5-hour morning birding at Colt’s Neck Dorbrook Recreation Area. Guests are to meet their guide in the parking lot at the soccer field at 9:00 am on February 6.
Finally, Freneau Woods Park in Aberdeen will have its Roving Naturalist head a 1.5-hour nature walk on Saturday, February 15 beginning at 9:00 am. Hikers are to meet in the parking lot at the Visitor Center.
