Manalapan runners to make a late dash

In a couple of weeks, it will be the last chance for Manalapan runners to attend an event in the 33rd annual Freehold Area Running Club’s (FARC) 5K Race Series.

This year, the event will no doubt be especially enjoyable as it meanders through an historic national park.

Participants in the 5K run can calculate their mile splits as they run the course. Children aged eight and older are invited to complete the mile run and/or the half-mile run. Awards will be handed out to overall race finishers and to overall run walk finishers.

Entry fees of $5, $3 for FARC members and students aged 22 years old and under, can be paid during registration. Children’s entry fees will be $2 for one race and $3 for both races. Dogs and strollers will not be allowed because they can interfere with other racers and walkers. Headphones will not be permitted either because they can prevent a runner from hearing race officials’ instructions. For safety reasons, runners will also be prohibited from taking part while wearing costumes.

Those spectators who will be cheering for their favorite runners may want to get some banner printing done sooner rather than later, because the event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, at Battlefield State Park on Old Route 33, Manalapan. The 5K will start at 6:45 pm with onsite registration beginning at 5:45 pm.
