Manalapan presents plant sale and nature fair

A Native Plant Sale and Nature Fair presented by the Manalapan Environmental Commission will take place on a weekend in early June.

Manalapan homeowners wishing to add more native plants to their patios or yards will be buying shrubs and perennial plants and getting advice on plant selection from the Township Forester and a Rutgers University native plant expert. The New Jersey Plant Society, Master Gardener Help Desk and the Jersey Friendly Yards program will have volunteers and professionals available with gardening insights.

Milkweed plants will be available for those interested in saving Monarch butterflies, and demonstration gardens will be on display to give attendees inspiration. Educational exhibits will be displaying ideas for pollinator gardens, healthy landscaping, local wildlife, and effective tick and mosquito control.

Nature murals will be available as backdrops for photos. Families often bring colorful pictures taken at events like this to local Print shops for duplicates for family, friends, and newsletters.

Nature scenes are often used by Stationery printers on their notecard sets, Letterheads and seasonal Holiday Cards.

Children may enjoy the sidewalk games, playground and nature-themed crafts.

Rain or shine the Plant Sale and Nature Fair will be from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday, June 8th at the Manalapan Recreation Center, 120 Freehold Road (County Road 522), Manalapan Township. The event will be located next to the Eco Patio and Dreyer Pavilion.
