Local Maniacs to run three-mile obstacle course
The Rugged Maniac 5k Obstacle Race in New Jersey will take place in July.
A free festival will start the day at 8:30 am on both the Saturday and Sunday. Manalapan maniacs can get free stuff including promotional products at the booths, play interactive games and enter contests such as pie eating, stein-hoisting and dance-offs. On the main stage, a DJ will keep things hopping. Food will be available for purchase.
The playground will be where the main action will happen. This will be a three-mile obstacle course with over 20 demanding obstacles. The course has been designed to challenge all fitness levels from marathoners to couch potatoes. Timeslots will begin at 9:00 am and each time frame is limited to 200 entrants. The most competitive participants will want to register for the Elite Heat at 9:00 am.
New obstacles will include Vertigo – a cargo climb, Rinse and Repeat - crawling over a slimy log then under a barrier twice, Launch Pad – an inflatable steep-padded wall climb, and Hang Loose – hanging cargo nets.
A few of the ones previous Maniacs may remember will be the Feed the Beast, Hell and High Water, The Warped Wall, Head Scratcher, and Brazan.
This year’s Rugged Maniac New Jersey will be July 18th and 19th at Raceway Park, 230 Pension Road, Englishtown.
